Gulfstream Picks, Fri Feb 5

Good Luck today Gulfstream

Race 1

8-3-9   In a race without early zip I can see DREAMIN OF CLARISE getting to the front and taking them all the way.

Race 2

8-7-2  BOBBYSLUCKYSEVEN goes out for a trainer hitting at 20% 1st time in the barn while also getting a pretty big class drop.  His only dirt race wasn’t to bad and if he runs to that would be right there at the wire. Showing how poor this field really is, I like QUATTROCENTO in the place spot, trainer stats are bad debuting but his two works hint at some ability.

Race 3

6 NOW POWER(2-1), had a rough trip first time back off almost 6 months away. Surely needed the race and should be tighter second back and adding Lasix.

Race 4

9-8-4    CHANGING DIRECTION is taking a huge class drop and has been facing much better then these.  Should be closer to the pace facing weaker horses. MY CORINTHIAN had a little trouble in his last, nothing crazy but runs consistent numbers and didn’t get beat much last out.

Race 5

5-1-4   Loved LIBRETA’s maiden breaker at Belmont, drawing off by 6.  faced much tougher in her last and then giving some time after weakening down the lane.  Consistent works at Palm meadows might have her fit to go here. MY DEAR VENEZUELA outran her odds last race in the G3 old hat here at gulfstream and got a high number doing so, post doesn’t help. POSITIVELY ROYAL showed much promise breaking her maiden and then being favored in a G3 at Saratoga last summer, failed in that race and hasn’t been seen since, Pletcher is an astounding 39% with this type of layoff.

Race 6

1-5-7   MANHATTAN MOXY broke her maiden at 12500 and returns here in a non winners of 2 lifetime.  Way over her head last out, she should appreciate the drop back down and getting back of the dirt. WILD INTHE STREETS usually makes his run but usually makes it to late, look for him to be coming late with to much to do.

Race 7

11-7-8   The lightbulb might have went off for WEIGHT OF GOLD winning his last start after trying turf.  Running back to that race makes him tough here if he can navigate a tough post. CYBTHIAS FURY’s last 3 turf tries have all been competitive and getting back on grass today should help her chances. Longshot ZOUZOU has been facing much tougher and might relish a significant class drop like she’s getting.

Race 8

10-11-9   On this off the turf event, OPIE has run some good figures on the dirt at Pimlico and his breeding says he should like getting back to the main track. ITS ELEMTARY ran well in his maiden now drops to 35k, he should also not mind the dirt today.

Race 9

4-1-11  Dropping in class might be all GIANTS JEWEL needs and she’s been facing straight allowance horses on the NYRA circuit most of the summer. Most of her races from the past year, wins todays. Finally breaking his maiden in start 12 BREAK AWAY is a closer who might like todays 50k level and gets a great finishing jockey in Joel Rosario to help her late kick. FEBRUARY ROSE is very interesting, I don’t think you’ll be getting 8-1 on her.  hasn’t run since sept but shows great works for a 17% trainer with these layoff types.

Race 10

7-8-6 Great Race for STRONG COMPOSITION in his last of the lay off just missing, comes right back with a quick workout and should be ready to stalk and pounce. Coming out of the same race, EXTRAVEGANT KID is going to try to clear from the outside, but maiden breaker TOWN POLICY might make it tough for him.

Race 11

11-9-4   Big class dropper YES IM LUCKY just ran behind to horses that came back to run very well on yesterdays card. A reapeat of that race puts him in the winners circle.  The biggest class dropper of them all is HIDDEN VOW Deep closer might like the easier company and will be coming late.
